Citrix Certified Administrator (CCA) Leverages Technology at Doctors Hospital to Deliver Applications to Clinical Facilities and Physicians “No Matter Where They Are”

Doctors Hospital IT Systems Administrator obtains CCA Certification

For a growing number of physicians at Doctors Hospital, the traditional office is becoming more of a touchpad than a daily destination; more of them are now using Information Technology (IT) to efficiently perform at least part of their jobs from virtually anywhere, at any hour of the day, thanks to technology that allows access to information wherever they go.     

Doctors can access hospital applications securely & seamlessly from offices in Nassau, throughout the islands of the Bahamas & even the World, as thought they were right in the hospital.  All of this has been made possible by leveraging the Citrix Platform to deliver key applications like Meditech.  Meditech is Doctors Hospital’s Health Care Information System which was implemented in 2006.

Meditech provides integrated software solutions that meet the information needs of health care organizations worldwide.  With MEDITECH, key information such as patient diagnoses, medications, and allergies are able to be centralized so that care providers throughout the hospital as well as at all its facilities are able to share the same up-to-the-minute data. For example, nurses administering patient medications are automatically able to view displays of relevant laboratory values, medication conflicts, and allergy warnings.

The CCA certification program focuses on the skills and knowledge foundation necessary to successfully support an existing implementation of specific Citrix products. “This certification is the first in a series of certifications that gives me the ability to support Citrix Presentation Server 4.5. The next step would be to support all of the other products that are apart of Citrix’s offering” as stated by Doctors Hospital’s IT Systems Administrator, Ryan Austin.

The Certified Citrix Administrator certificate is a rare certification with probably less than twenty Citrix Administrators, which is a small amount in comparison to the amount of certifications around today.  An added benefit to Doctors Hospital’s IT Team the Citrix education and certification means they now have in-house expertise with the ability to support such an implementation, providing the knowledge and tools to design, optimize, build, implement, and analyze the Presentation Server farm, which hosts our critical applications says Ryan Austin.
