Chargé d’ Affaires at US Embassy Leads staff in Annual Blood Drive with Doctors Hospital

In an effort to assist with the replenishing of blood reserves in the Bahamas, the United States Embassy recently donated blood to Doctors Hospital’s Blood Bank with an on-site blood drive.

Staff members at the United States Embassy, including the US Marines and Foreign Service Nationals were able to donate seventeen units of blood, which will assist approximately 51 persons in need.

Organized by Doctors Hospital’s Medical Technologist, Zonja Bain along with the Embassy’s Registered Nurse, Carol Clowes, the blood drive is an annual event.  “The United States Embassy is always very civic minded, we can depend on their collective donations every year.  We are very appreciative of their efforts and thank them on behalf of the persons who will benefit from their donations.” stated Zonja Bain.

This volunteer effort is a substantial demonstration by US Embassy staff to assist with saving lives.
